Who I am
I am a visual artist living in Cincinnati, a homebody, wife of a very supportive and loving husband, and mother of two brilliant daughters.
My faith tells me the world was beautifully made, and although it is undoubtedly broken, that original allure is still there to appreciate.
In my paintings, I typically use acrylic or oil paint. I construct my paintings in many layers to achieve a vibrant and luminescent picture which realistically captures a discovered or manufactured (as is often the case with still life and portraiture) beautiful moment. The relatively small size of each piece reminds the viewer how fleeting and easily missed these magical moments are.
My work is overwhelmingly inspired by nature and the real world around me. In each piece, I hope to convey that these brief flashes of sublime beauty can be beheld and experienced in everyday life by any who are observant.
In my portraits I hope to capture first and foremost a good likeness of the subject. Not just of their appearance but also personality and character. I work from reference photographs that I take myself.
